I was just notified that the paper I wrote with Nick Benton, A Semantic Model of Graphical User Interfaces, was accepted to ICFP 2011!
This is my first paper at ICFP, so I'm quite excited. Also, I accidentally misread the submission guidelines and wrote a 10-page draft, instead of a 12-page draft. As a result, I have two whole pages to add examples, intuition, and motivation. This feels positively decadent. :)
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThere's more decadence where that came from! ICFP usually allows authors to buy up to 2 extra pages, for a total of 14.
Congratulations! I am really glad that you are pursuing event abstraction facilities. Beyond GUIs, I shared my thoughts on your paper with some friends and after some beers, they all agreed Command & Control-style systems are another good problem domain. Mining both problem domains for examples (e.g., in future work, not necessarily this paper) should result in more rigorous requirements.
ReplyDeleteWhen Adam says "buy ... pages", he is speaking figuratively, right?
You can pay $200 a page for extra pages. Also, there's a possibility that ICFP will offer an extra page for free this year.
